Another great piece of PR, thanks to Careers24!

I was recently featured as part of the #careerpride series from Career24, where they profiled my work as a Digital Strategist-turned-Producer!

Some of my favourite quotes from the article include:

Craig now finds himself taking on more responsibilities in the television industry and taking his knowledge of film, television and digital media to head up the flagship project of Okuhle Media, Hectic Nine-9.

Rising Star Finalist: Media & Advertising

I am honoured to have been recognised as a Finalist in the 2017 Standard Bank Rising Star Awards! That’s right, as of 2017, I – Craig Robert Groenewald – can proudly say that I am a Finalist in the Standard Bank Rising Star Awards – the prestigious annual business awards ceremony that ‘publicly recognises’ those that are “willing to walk the talk to help themselves and others rise to the top of their game“!

How could this happen? Well, in April I received notification that I had been nominated from within Okuhle Media as one of the candidates for the prestigious Rising Star Awards, and what a journey it has been since then!

The Standard Bank Rising Star Awards is an annual event that recognises the young talent that is shaping South Africa’s future in a variety of industries. I had the honour of being nominated alongside other influential figures in my field, from Hectic Nine-9 Presenter Laurian Nortje, as well as Content Researcher Luthando Tshaya from Okuhle Media, Social Media Manager Carla Harris, advertiser extraordinaire Talita Myberg, and the Fashion Editor for Elle Magazine herself Asanda Sizani (who deservedly won the first place title in our category, as she has like a million Insta-followers!)

From the nomination, we had to undergo what turned out to be a gruelling, self-reflective audit of our very careers! We were tasked with a lengthy online questionnaire to reach the Semi-Final stage, and went to Johannesburg for a face-to-face interview to decide on the Finalists! In this interview I had the opportunity to meet the inspiring leaders in their respective fields, Hennie Oosthuizen (Executive:Strategic Engagements and High Profile Relations of USB-ED) and the gracious Lize Grobler (Human Capital Exectutive at IQ Business).

I must admit this journey of self-discovery was well worth the hours of thought and leadership exercises we were put through. I walked away from this experience with a great networking experience, meeting go-getters from a variety of industries that I would never ordinarily have met! Furthermore, I had the opportunity to see an overarching viewpoint of how we, as young individuals, contribute to a greater South Africa, as well as global growth in our respective fields.

I am honoured to have been selected as a Finalist for the Standard Bank Rising Star Awards 2017, and hope to continue this journey of success in future!

Jozi Fight Night

So I took a gander to the lively Maboneng Precinct in the centre of Johannesburg last week to catch the first of hopefully many Fight Nights hosted by the Sir Stan’s Athletic Club.

It gave me a chance to get some shots of Jozi at night, and also to try my hand at the Avid Media Composer. More importantly, it was an excellent reminder of how lively this city can get on a Thursday night, with the Arts on Main Night Market happening in and amongst a multitude of restaurants, as well as an epic evening of boxing!

Here’s a taste of the tournament, and you can catch the next one on December 4th, not to mention a great evening out every Thursday at Arts on Main, 246 Fox Street, Johannesburg. A big high five to everyone who took part in the Fight Night, it was an awesome evening!
